On 6-10 June 2016 ESD hosted 10 diplomats from the Central Asia: Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan. The four countries have been in the focus of ESD since 2014. The program of the multilateral study visit, that was financed by the Estonian development cooperation, involved meetings in Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Parliament, State Chancellery and other state institutions. The purpose of the visit was to reinforce relations between Estonian and Central Asian officials, to present Estonian reform experience and enhance knowlegde on Baltic and Nordic cooperation. The visit also included meetings in Helsinki, in Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the Crisis Management Initative (CMI) organisation.
The visit is part of a larger project that will host foreign diplomats in Estonia from Central Asia, Northen Africa and the Middle East between 2016-2017. Next stuy visit to diplomats form Northen Africa is scheduled on 17-21 Oct.
The project is financed from the recourses of Estonian development cooperation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
