In coopration with its foreign partners from Lithuania and London, ESD is training Estonian officials for the Estonian EU Council Presidency in 2017. The project is called “Horisontal trainings for the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union“. The purpose of the project is to train approximately 1000 Estonian presidency staff and to prepare them for a successful EU Council presidency in the second half of 2017. The long term purpose of the project is to raise general qualifications of Estonian officials for working in the civil service.
The trainings are carried out by international concortium – the ECE Group – that consists the following organisations:
ESD – Estonian School of Diplomacy (Tallinn, Estonia)
CPDS – Center of Political and Diplomatic Studies (London, UK) www.cpds.co.uk
ESTEP – European social, economic and law consultancy (Vilnius, Lithuania) www.estep.lt
The trainings take palce in Tallinn and Brussels from March 2016 until Feb 2017. The number of participants is reaches to 1000 people from various ministries and relevant sub-agenses.
During the trainings 5 thematic modules will be covered:
EU Institutions and Decision-Making
EU Law
Negotiating in the EU
Cooperation with European Parliament
Chairing the EU Council meetings
The ECE Group pool of trainers includes lecturers from Estonia, UK, Lithuania, Slovenia, Ireland
Public trender for this project was launched by Ministry of Finance and State Chancellery, and it is financed by the European Social Fund
