Seminar on Black Sea Security and Connectivity in an Era of War and Geopolitical Realignment

//

On August 26, GFSIS Estonia in cooperation with Estonian School of Diplomacy organized the seminar “Black Sea Security and Connectivity in an Era of War and Geopolitical Realignment” in Tallinn. Experts from the Black Sea region and beyond discussed regional security, trade, and connectivity.

This one-day seminar, organized by the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies – Estonia in cooperation with Estonian School of Diplomacy, brought together representatives from the think tank and academic communities across the Black Sea littoral and neighboring states to examine the region’s evolving security landscape and connectivity prospects. The seminar addressed the continuing impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, the effectiveness of Western sanctions regimes, the vulnerabilities and opportunities in Black Sea energy and transport infrastructure, and the policy options available to regional actors seeking stability, cooperation, and economic resilience.

The seminar was held in a closed-door format, for invited participants only, and conducted under the Chatham House Rule. Experts from the Black Sea coastal states and their immediate neighbors — Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Romania, and Bulgaria — participated alongside representatives from other EU member states.
